A Joy-Filled Spring Wedding at Historic Rice Mill in Charleston, SC

There are some weddings that remind me exactly why I fell in love with photographing people in the first place - and Brooklyn and Treyce’s Historic Rice Mill wedding in Charleston, South Carolina was one of them.

What makes this one even sweeter is that my story with these two actually started years before their wedding day.

From North Greenville University to Their Wedding Day

I first met Brooklyn and Treyce when we were all students at North Greenville University. We always seemed to find ourselves in the same groups and around the same people, but Brooklyn and I never really had the chance to know each other beyond that.

Fast forward a few years, and somehow photography brought us back into each other’s lives.

Throughout the wedding planning process, I got to know Brooklyn more and more, and by the time their wedding arrived, I genuinely wished I could rewind time and become friends with her sooner. She is just cool. The kind of person who is effortlessly fun to be around but also has the most beautiful, genuine heart.

It became so easy to see why Treyce chose her all those years ago.

And watching the two of them together on their wedding day, surrounded by people who clearly adore them, made it even easier to picture the beautiful life they’re going to continue building together.

A March Wedding at Historic Rice Mill

Their March wedding took place at Historic Rice Mill in Charleston, SC, tucked right along the water.

Charleston was showing off that day. The sun was beaming as Brooklyn and Treyce stood together on the venue’s intimate balcony overlooking the water and officially became husband and wife.

It was warm, bright, emotional, and completely them.

Historic Rice Mill is one of those Charleston wedding venues that photographs beautifully without needing to try too hard. Between the waterfront views, historic brick, warm textures, and smaller spaces throughout the venue, everything feels intimate even when you're surrounded by all of your favorite people.

And that's exactly what their wedding felt like.

Full of people, but intimate.

Beautiful, but not overly staged.

Elegant, but still incredibly fun.

True-to-Color Wedding Photography With a Little Bit of Film

When I photograph a wedding, I don't want every image to feel perfectly posed or overly polished. I want the gallery to actually feel like the day.

Brooklyn and Treyce's wedding was the perfect example of that.

Their gallery is filled with true-to-color wedding photography mixed with little touches of nostalgia and film — warm Charleston sunshine, movement, slightly imperfect moments, genuine reactions, and all of the little in-between pieces that make a wedding feel real.

I love creating images that are clean and timeless while still having personality. A little grain. A little blur. A little film-inspired nostalgia mixed in with those crisp, true-to-color photographs you'll want to frame forever.

Because your wedding photos shouldn't just show you what everything looked like.

They should remind you what it felt like.

And Then the Dance Floor Opened…

If I had to choose my favorite part of Brooklyn and Treyce's wedding, though?

The dancing. Easily.

Their friends absolutely showed up and SHOWED OUT.

Once everyone made their way onto the dance floor, there was genuinely not a dull moment. These are some of my favorite receptions to photograph because nobody is thinking about the camera anymore. People are laughing, dancing, grabbing their best friends, singing at the top of their lungs, and completely living in the moment.

Those are the photographs I love.

The slightly blurry dancing photos. The expressions you couldn't recreate if you tried. Your best friend absolutely losing it on the dance floor. The tiny moments happening in the background that you didn't even realize were happening.

The photographs that aren't necessarily "perfect" — but somehow become your favorites because they're so completely you.

A Charleston Wedding That Felt Like Them

Brooklyn and Treyce's Historic Rice Mill wedding was beautiful, but what I'll remember most wasn't the brick walls, waterfront ceremony, flowers, or details.

It was how much love was in the room.

Their wedding felt like Brooklyn — sweet, welcoming, beautiful, and ridiculously fun once the music started.

Getting to reconnect with these two years after our North Greenville University days and document this chapter of their story was incredibly special. Brooklyn and Treyce, I hope your life together always feels a little bit like that Charleston dance floor — surrounded by your favorite people, full of laughter, and never taking yourselves too seriously.

And Brooklyn, I'm still wishing we had become friends sooner. 🤍
