Why You Need to Go to a Raleigh Girls Club Event (and Bring Your Camera!)
If you’ve been trying to figure out how to make friends in Raleigh, NC, or if you and your girlfriends just want something cute and fun to do — let me put you on to something good. Raleigh Girls Club is honestly one of my favorite things about living in the Triangle. They create the most creative, themed events that make you feel like you’re in a movie — and yes, the photo opportunities are endless.
I first went to one of their Parent Trap–themed events at The Oxbow Estate in Clayton, NC. Think about the iconic handshake, twinning outfits, and dreamy vibes — they nailed it. Then I had the absolute honor of photographing their Masquerade Ball at Donovan Mannor in Fuquay-Varina, NC. Y’all, it was magical. The venues themselves are gorgeous (Oxbow is a wedding photographer’s dream), but the way RGC transforms them into something unique makes every event feel special.
What Makes RGC Events So Fun
Picture this:
You walk in and there’s a mocktail + coffee bar on wheels, ready to hand you something pretty to sip on.
Tables are filled with flowers, candles, and charms to make the cutest friendship bracelets or necklaces.
There are vendors with wedding dresses, boutique clothing, and permanent jewelry stations (yes, you can leave with a forever bracelet!).
A live band is playing — and if you’re anything like me, you’ll find yourself dancing at least once.
It’s like a mix between a girls’ night out, a styled shoot, and a small-business pop-up market — all rolled into one.
If You’re Nervous to Go Alone…
Listen, I get it. Walking into a new space by yourself can be intimidating. But these events? They’re full of the most welcoming, friendly people. You’ll have so many little activities to do (and snacks to eat) that it’s almost impossible not to start a conversation. Who knows? You might leave with a new best friend, or even your future bridesmaid.
From a Photographer’s Point of View
As a Raleigh wedding and portrait photographer, I live for good lighting, beautiful details, and candid moments — and Raleigh Girls Club events are full of them. The garden at Donovan Mannor is one of my favorite quiet spots to sneak away for photos. If you go, don’t be shy about snapping pictures (or hiring someone to do it for you). You’re going to want to remember it.
Take the Leap
So here’s my friendly nudge: buy the ticket, put on a cute outfit, and go. Whether you’re new to the Triangle or just looking for something fun to do, Raleigh Girls Club is such a sweet way to spend an evening. You’ll support local vendors, make new connections, and get photos you’ll treasure — all in one night.
