Wedding Weekend at The Biltmore Estate

This past weekend was one I’ll never forget—a magical, emotional, and creatively fulfilling experience all wrapped into one. I had the incredible opportunity to second shoot for the wonderfully talented Katie Wilson at the breathtaking Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. What I didn’t expect was that the weekend would turn into one of the most unforgettable moments of my own love story, too.

Scouting and a Surprise Proposal

The day before the wedding, I arrived at the estate to scope out the grounds with Katie’s associate shooter, Emily Veinberg, and my boyfriend, Jake. As a second shooter, I always like to feel comfortable with the space ahead of time so I can bring my best to the wedding day—but this trip turned out to be about more than preparation.

While exploring the historic, beautifully manicured grounds of the Biltmore, Jake got down on one knee and proposed—right there in the middle of one of the most romantic settings imaginable. To my complete surprise (and eternal gratitude), Emily was in on it and captured the whole thing on camera! It was a picture-perfect moment, more magical than I ever could’ve dreamed, and I still get goosebumps just thinking about it.

Keeping the Focus on the Couple

As amazing as the proposal was, I had a brief moment of panic. Was it okay that something so personal and big happened on a weekend that was meant to celebrate someone else's love story? Katie and Emily immediately reassured me—they’d been planning this surprise with Jake for months and made it clear that the celebration of love in all its forms was more than welcome. Still, I kept the moment private from the couple, wanting to ensure that all the spotlight stayed on them. This was their day, and they deserved every moment of it.

Shooting with Purpose

Something about the whole experience made my role as a photographer feel even more meaningful. Having explored the Biltmore grounds the day before, I felt more confident and inspired than ever when it came time to shoot the wedding. My heart was full, and I brought that energy and emotion into every frame I captured.

The couple we were photographing were as sweet as they come—driven, passionate, and so deeply in love. Watching them support one another not only made my job easier, it made it inspiring. Their ceremony took place on The Diana lawn, with the grand Biltmore Estate rising in the background. The setting was as dreamy as their love story, and I felt so honored to be there, documenting it all for Katie Wilson.

Full Circle Moments

This weekend felt like a full-circle moment in so many ways. I got to work alongside and learn from two photographers I admire deeply, witness and document a beautiful love story, and step into a brand-new chapter in my own life. It reminded me why I do what I do—to capture love in all its forms and to preserve the moments that mean the most.

I’ll never forget this weekend at The Biltmore. It was the best day of my life… followed by one of the most creatively fulfilling. And I’m so grateful I got to experience it all.

To Katie and Emily: thank you for not only believing in my work but also for celebrating such a personal moment in the most thoughtful way. And to the beautiful couple: thank you for letting me be part of your story. Your love truly inspired me.
