Wedding Day at Lowndes Grove | CHS, SC

This wedding was more than just a beautiful celebration of love—it was a full-circle moment for me as a photographer and Charleston local. When Katie Wilson invited me to second shoot a wedding at Lowndes Grove in Charleston, South Carolina, I could hardly contain my excitement. I had lived in Charleston for four years, always dreaming of stepping onto the iconic grounds of Lowndes Grove—not just to see it in person, but to photograph a love story unfolding there.

Funny enough, my first glimpse of the venue was through a screen. Like many, I had only seen it featured on the hit TV show Outer Banks, where its timeless Southern charm and riverside beauty captured everyone's attention. Finally seeing it with my own eyes—and getting to work there—was a dream come true.

Southern Charm Meets Deep, Enduring Love

The couple had been together for years, and you could feel the depth of their connection in everything they did. It was in the way they looked at each other, in the gentle touches, in the way they laughed easily and moved seamlessly through the day together. Their history, respect, and genuine care for one another filled every moment with intention.

They got ready in the elegant, historic mansion—each room filled with soft light and classic Charleston character. It was the perfect start to what would become an incredibly special day. Once everyone was dressed and ready, we stepped outside into the most perfect weather. Charleston gifted us sunshine, a soft breeze, and that golden-hour glow that photographers dream of.

A Ceremony of Pastel Dreams

Their ceremony took place beneath a stunning arbor overflowing with pastel florals, perfectly complementing the soft, romantic vibe of the entire day. As the couple exchanged vows, the river shimmered in the background, and I couldn’t help but think how lucky I was to be there. Every detail—from the blooms to the gentle sounds of the water—was magic.

After the ceremony, we stole a few quiet moments for couples portraits on the dock as the sun began to set. The light was golden, the air peaceful, and the couple’s joy was palpable. We laughed, we celebrated, and I snapped away, thankful to freeze those moments in time forever.

A Celebration of Love and Community

From there, we headed to cocktail hour, where the couple was surrounded by a beautiful community of friends and family. Capturing those interactions—hugs, toasts, heartfelt conversations—was one of my favorite parts of the day. It reminded me that weddings are about more than two people in love; they’re about the people who lift them up, walk beside them, and cheer them on.

Grateful Beyond Words

I will always be thankful to Katie Wilson for trusting me to represent her and her brand at such an unforgettable event. Working alongside her is always a gift, but this wedding felt extra special—partly because of the dreamy venue, partly because of the sweet couple, and mostly because it reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

Lowndes Grove was every bit as magical as I imagined—and now, instead of only knowing it from a TV show, I carry my own real memories of joy, love, and golden-hour magic there.

To Katie: thank you for believing in me. And to the incredible couple: thank you for letting me witness your love story and the beautiful life you’ve built together. This day will live in my heart—and through my lens—forever.
