Madison + Tristen

Being in my mid-twenties means I’m living in the season of “everyone’s getting married”—and honestly? I’m loving every second of it. Not just because I get to attend so many beautiful weddings, but because I get to capture them. And when it’s a friend or someone I’ve crossed paths with before, it’s even more special. As a photographer, there’s something magical about watching your relationships deepen throughout the planning process—friends become closer friends, and you’re handed a front-row seat to the most meaningful day of their lives. It truly is the best job in the world.

That was exactly the case with Tristen and Madi.

Tristen and I went to the same university, and while we only had one class together—“Marriage and Family” (how perfect is that?)—I never imagined that two years later I’d be photographing his wedding instead of taking finals next to him. Tristen was quiet, always polite, and someone you could tell had a grounded, kind spirit.

It all made perfect sense when I met Madi—his then-girlfriend, now wife! She is equally soft-spoken, but also strong, graceful, and so deeply kind. I didn’t know her well, but from the very beginning, I knew Tristen had found someone really special.

When Madi reached out to me about photographing their micro wedding, I immediately said yes—and would’ve moved mountains to be there. Getting to know her through the planning process was such a joy. She was intentional with every decision, every detail, and every person she invited into the day. It made everything feel more meaningful and so full of love.

By the time the big day arrived, even though I hadn’t seen either of them in over a year, I felt more connected to them than ever before. That’s the beauty of this work—it doesn’t just document relationships, it builds them.

Their wedding day was short and sweet, but absolutely packed with love, support, and joy. It was clear that every person in the room was there for the right reasons—to support their unity, their love story, and their future. I left that day feeling so refreshed and deeply grateful to have been part of something so genuine.

Tristen and Madi, thank you for the honor of documenting your wedding. Thank you for trusting me, and for reminding me why I love this work so much. You two are such a beautiful reflection of quiet strength, gentle love, and intentional living—and I can’t wait to watch your story continue.

With love and joy,

Sydney Jane
