Charleston Wedding at the Gadsden House | Liz & Anthony
As a Raleigh-based wedding photographer, I always get a little extra excited when an out-of-town couple reaches out—especially when the wedding is in a dream location like Charleston, South Carolina. So when Liz, a sweet bride from Washington, D.C., contacted me about capturing her big day at the Gadsden House, I was thrilled. The venue is absolutely breathtaking—elegant, charming, and full of Southern grace—just like the couple themselves.
From the moment I arrived, it was clear this wedding was something special. Sure, the venue was stunning and the décor was beautifully curated, but what truly stood out was the love. The love between Liz and Anthony, and the genuine care they showed every single person there. That’s what makes a wedding unforgettable.
Liz hired me for full-day coverage, which gave us the flexibility to move through the day with ease. It allowed her to truly be present—with her guests, with her groom, and with the moment. As a photographer, that kind of space is a gift—it meant we could take our time, breathe, and capture everything organically.
The couple went above and beyond to make sure their guests felt cared for. From the live music to the classy yet cozy ambiance, everything was done with intention. One of my favorite touches? A live watercolor artist, Steven (@popadicart on Instagram), who painted scenes from the day in real time. It was inspiring to watch and added such a unique element to the celebration.
This wedding was also a little extra special for me personally—I brought along my fiancé! It was so fun having him there, not just to see what I do, but to help with timelines, organizing the family shot list, managing gear, and keeping everything running smoothly. We made a great team, and the couple made us feel like lifelong friends. Their kindness, warmth, and joy were absolutely contagious.
I’ve been photographing weddings for nearly seven years, and while I never like to judge, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t develop a sense for love that’s built to last. Liz and Anthony? They have it. The real, deep, forever kind of love. And capturing that will always be one of the greatest honors of my life.
